D-4 Another day

Woke up at 12pm. Watched Oprah whilst eating jja jang myun. That's life.
Mother came home and made kimchi jun (korean style pancake). She craved korean rice wine so bought a bottle on the way (pictured above) to the GP and Post Office and I bought a bottle at the groceries.

I had to get a check up on my eye and buy a box at the Post Office to send a parcel to my dorm. I have so many coats that takes up way too much room so will send it over since it's spring/summer in Japan now.

I also got my last pay today! I'm 1k short than my goal amount but I think it should suffice. Rent is cheap, youth allowance is plenty plus i'm planning to tutor a few kids there so I should be survive. I'll use around 3-4k for my major trip in the summer holidays that will include visits to nagoya, kanto region (Osaka, Kyoto, Nabe), Hiroshima, Shimonoseki and than...Seoul!!!!!WOO HOO.

Also, met up with R and E after dinner at stratty but then we came back to eat the rest of the kimchi jun at my place! haha such ajummas.

R and E bumming in my room

D-5 Bored

Never though I would say this, but I'm beginning to feel bored.

Life without no uni or work is great but bumming at home the whole day can take its toll.

I studied a bit, watched Oprah, watched a Jap movie (Sand Chronicles) and slept a lot. Also went to W's house to install new ram on my computer. Laptop runs faster than before which is so much better.

D-6 Baeksoo life

Isn't life grand on a Monday with no work?
I woke up at 10pm, took a shower, ate, bummed around, went to Macquarie centre and finally got my International Drivers License! Collected my contacts at the optometrist and bought KFC with my mum on the way home.

I've started p-p-packing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

28.3.10

D-7 One week to go

I got a facial today at Ella Rouge. A glycolic peel to be exact. Feels good but will take a few days to see results.

Then went to my Grandpa's place and then to my gomo-halmoni (my grandpa's younger sister) with my dad as well for dinner. I love talking to older relatives. They have so much to tell about their lives and experience and so much wisdom to share.

After dinner, I met up with A to have icecream, fries and apple pie at maccas. She's my true fatty eating partner. Who am I going to have iceream with at 10pm when i'm overseas? So sad.

D-8 Irreplaceable

We had a farewell galbi dinner tonight with my closest group of friends (known them for 10 years already).

Seriously, I'm going to miss them heaps when I'm in Japan :(

We're going to dress up and have drinks on Thursday!

26.3.10

D-9 Same as yesterday

Went to Parramatta and bought everything else on the list. Got home and relaxed.

25.3.10

D-10 This is life

What a PRODUCTIVE day.

A list of all the things I did today:

- Cleaned my room (finally!)
- Centrelink all finalised
- Went to the Optometrist to buy my contacts
- Commonwealth bank to cancel my account and ANZ to get rid of my account fees (I'm still a student!)
- Chemist warehouse to buy necessities for my exchange and bought 90% of all things I listed beforehand

This was all done from 12 to 5pm commuting by public transport!
All I need to do is go to NRMA to get my international drivers permit and buy the rest of the 10% items I've listed which I will do tomorrow. I actually added 3 more "to do" things this arvo. Shall do them all tomorrow.

I want to get everything out of the way by this week so I can start hitting the books. It's imperative I study and revise my Japanese before I leave. Gotta devise a little study plan for that aswell. Really need to revise kanji. Ergh. I'll be taking a placement test the day after I arrive in Japan and I don't want to be learning the same stuff I did in Jap 6.
So yeh...hopefully it'll all be done by tomorrow.

I met up with E and our lil dongseng, YJ, for dinner. It was nice catching up with YJ. Haven't seen him since he left for Korea last year so that was all good. Will be having a farewell dinner at my place on Saturday with highschool friends (including O's 21st) and then dinner with relos on Sunday.
So basically after the weekend, my "to do" list will be completed. Boxes all checked.
Monday to Friday I'm going to either study at home or at the library, will not spend money and spend more quality time with family and friends (some how avoid monetary expenditure at the same time) before I leave :(

I didn't get to take a photo of the succulent jokbal and negmyun I enjoyed with E and YJ tonight. It was so goooooooooooood. Forgot to take my camera! Doh!

D-12 Second last

My favourite snack these days. Wafers like no other. Y'all gotta try it out.

Tomorrow's my last day at work!

22.3.10

D-13 Skip a day

Yes, I cheated. I've been lazy with this blog so I caught up on 5 days in one go. hehe
but I remembered what I did for each day though!

Also, I recounted the days, and Monday (i.e. today, 22 of March) is actually D-13, not D-14.

I haven't been taking photos, once again, due to my laziness and lack of excitement in this work/home routine.

HOWEVER, I officially have TWO DAYS LEFT AT WORK.

YES. MY LAST DAY IS WEDNESDAY AND TOMORROW IS MY SECOND LAST DAY. YES I FIND IT ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO USE CAPS LOCK TO EXPRESS MY EXCITEMENT.

Five months of full-time work will come to an end!!! HURRAAAAH!!

WOW it's going to feel weird.

D-15

Sunday

Church and relaxation.

D-16 Errands

Random photo I took in the car whilst running errands.

Saturday - I went to the dentist, GP, hairdressers and then to Artarmon. All done before 2pm.

I had a relaxing arvo nap and woke up to greet guests who came over for some mouth-watering steak for dinner.

Photos of my favourite guests - Haemi and Bomi!
Yep, they're twins and their mother is my friend who is already married with two children! Crazy huh? I feel so old. These two adorable babies will call me " Hanna ee-mo" (which means aunt in Korean) since I'm the same age as their mum!

SO SO ADORABLE <3<3<3

D-17 Movie

Worked 10 hours.

TEN HOURS.

9am-7pm. But I got to see this cool bird cage installation at Angels Place (near Martin Place) on the way to the office.

I got home at 8pm and met up with my cousins - S, A and H - to watch Alice in Wonderland which I absolutely loved!

D-18 Again

Once again, the day consisted of work and then home.
I caught the train with R, however we were too tired to go out for dinner. Yep, that's how tiring work can be!

17.3.10

D-19 Bored

Past two days were literally spent at work and home only.

I cannot spend.
I'm too tired to do anything.

16.3.10

D-20 Tired

Slept 4 hours last night.
Worked 8.5 hours at Parra.

Dead tired. I'm going to sleep.

15.3.10

D-21 Mother's birthday

Today was my mum's birthday.
It was also a day off work as I had a 1pm ICS meeting at uni where I collected my airplane tickets, Centrelink letter and lots of other information. My departure date is Sunday, 4 April at 9.45pm and I'll be on board with quite a few other ICS students, including H! :D Super happy face.

Afterwards, I got a lift home to celebrate my mum's birthday! We had Miyeok guk which is basically synonymous to "birthday" in Korea and other yummy dishes! We had to neatly cut out the pretty cake because we had a bit in the morning (teehee) and translated what we wrote in mum's birthday card for her - both our messy writing and poor korean.

Happy birthday!

Love you mummy!!

14.3.10

D-22 A lovely Sunday

Lunch at Torin with R and E.

Dinner with my cousins, A, S and H.

A day of food and a little bit of drama that ended with laughter.

D-23 Birthday

Went to the optometrist and to the city with mother during the day.

Dinner was F's birthday dinner at Mizuya. Happy 22nd m'dear! <3 Lots you lots!

First photo with faces!

D-24 A quiet Friday

Friday was spent at work and then home. Nothing else. I was way too tired to do anything that I fell asleep straight after dinner at around 7pm.

To revise Japanese, I've been reading the Slam Dunk series that I bought for my brother's birthday while I was in Niigata. I also bought a few Japanese novels but there's way too much kanji which is why I decided to read something "lighter". Not really into manga nor am an avid basketball fan but I'm actually halfway through this one! The characters, plot and illustrations are all well-crafted and there are moments where I actually burst out laughing. I understand most of it but I do look up kanji that I don't know on my electronic dictionary and it also allows me to revise grammar structures.
Problem is, they didn't have No. 12 and 13 at the store in Niigata so I need to look for the missing books at Kinokuniya.

11.3.10

D-25 On the way

...to the office. I get paid for a 15 minute walk through Hyde Park. hehe

After work, I met up with D, H and O for dinner at Pepper Lunch. My cuz, A, called after I finished work who, in her words, was in need of social interaction because she was awake since 4am and had been practising all day. lol So I invited her to come along and, as the saying goes, the more the merrier it was!

My day is expressed in the following 4 separate posts. Don't ask why. And, yes, I do have a life.

GV and Kinokuniya

^ I want one!!!!!!! Aranzi Aronzo

Colours at QVB

City lights

Dessert at Max Brenner

On the train home

A kinda went crazy with the camera on the train. lol
I do like these four shots though!

10.3.10

D-26 Visa and Kangchon

(I had to take a photo of the photos I took today because this shitty Nokia brick doesn't send via email nor message nor the cable! My Ericsson broke cus I dropped it so many times and E's LG phone that I borrowed won't charge so I'm left with my brother's old mobile. I'm not sure whether getting an iPhone in Japan is a good idea now)

I went to work today and luckily finished early at 3.35pm to get to the Consulate by 4pm. I think I've never walked that fast in my life. I had to pick up my passport photos which I took during my lunch break and then power walked to Martin Place to get there by 15 to 4. Noice. It was a familiar procedure since I had to apply for the same visa when I went to Niigata last year. My visa will be all done on Friday so I have to go back again to pick up my passport too. Noice.

I then visited the Lindt Cafe in Martin Place to get a vanilla macaron and my favourite milk chocolate Lindt ball. I always wanted to try a macaron because I've seen/heard so much about it. Verdict: it was nice but too sweet for my liking. However, my lindt milk...*drool*... chocolate .. *drool*.. ball...so good...*drool*..

Anyway, after work I met up with G and R at Myer where we then headed towards Stratty to grab dinner. We were on a limited budget so we went to Kangchon and met E there. The second photo above shows my demolished bibimbap bowl, G's noodles, R's rice and E's sundae. Yummay!

I can't rely on my phone camera. The reason why I don't want to take my camera to work is because of the hassle caused when I go through security checks at court and having to fill out forms to collect the camera after I finish. Hmm. I'll see if I can put my camera somewhere in the office but if not, then I'll just have to put up with it. I'll take my Nikon tomorrow since I want to exchange my camera bag. On other days, I'll just take my Canon with me.

TEN MORE DAYS AT WORK LEFT! BOOYEAHBABYGAAHAHA
Can't wait >.<
