One week to go!

Weekend explorations to hipster cafes in Sydney. Today we went to Excelsior Jones in Ashfield - coffee was great, food was okay.
We also watched 'The Lego Movie' and it was hilarious! I thought it was cleverly written.

I have ONE WEEK left until my move to London! I'm feeling less anxious these days and more excited now!

Creating balance

coffee flat white Sydney cafe

I've been creating daily and monthly to-do lists since December last year in preparation for my move. Lists always work for me because I like the satisfaction of ticking off each item, knowing what I need to do in writing and going onto the next task.
There are a few days when I slack off and move my list to the next day (can never get the procrastination out of me) but so far I've done okay. Since the beginning of this month I'm also exercising more frequently and writing a food diary to get back into it. Definitely helps as I feel more energised and not so lethargic.
My days are a lot more productive but I've realised everything is about balance. It's always nice to unwind now and then, go to a nice cafe and have a cup of coffee.

Here's to another work week, the return to the daily grind. Let's make the most out of it!

Also in other news, I got my UK visa and one-way ticket to London last week.  I'll be there for two years from April 2014 to 2016. I'm sh*t scared and excited at the same time.

I shall elaborate in a more articulate manner once everything sinks in.

In the meantime ...

Birthday brunch at Bills

Two of my closest friends and I went to Bills in Darlinghurst on my birthday for brunch. This place has the fluffiest, most delicious hotcakes ever. Actually, every dish I've tried at Bills, including the pavlova, was really good! There was a lively school fete right opposite the cafe so we popped by after our meal. Will share photos soon. Oh, just realised that was exactly a month ago!
It was a hectic, anxious few weeks after my birthday. Fortunately, everything has settled down a bit.

I discovered this quote today:

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”

I think I'll go back to Berkelouw tomorrow, my favourite book cafe in Sydney. If only there was one (or similar) around my neighbourhood. It's no Daikanyama Tsutaya but it'll make do for now.

There are a few books I want to buy and I'll also take my JPLT N2 exercise books to study. Before that, I shall drop by Rozelle and Bondi Markets!

You can read a review of the cafe here.

On another note, I'm going to write in Japanese on this blog as well, purely to keep up with it. It'd be a waste to forget everything after studying the language for 3-4 years. I may ask a Japanese friend to correct any mistakes.

これからこのブログで日本語の練習のために日本語でも書きます。間違ったら直してください。
